Sock and stockings may be considered as part and package of underclothing. By definition, underwear are garments that is worn close to the body for support and protective covering. With this in idea, we can tell that socks and stockings belong to this category as they reinforcement and protect our feet daily. So what else serve they have in common? Let us take a look at their similarities.

For protective cover and support: Underwear like brassieres, cinctures, panties, briefs, and jock straps support the body and crotch and also adds protection to our body from elements like dust, sweat and cold. Likewise, socks and stockings protect and support our feet from everyday walking and standing. Our feet gets the most of the banging as it supports our weight. With inappropriate and ill-fitting socks, we could have blisters and produce callous in the long run. Also, wearing socks and stockings keeps foot smells.

Materials: Ordinary textiles used for underwear, socks and stockings are cotton fiber, silk and nylon and are most oftentimes blended with spandex for a just properly match. Cotton and silk are raw fibers and are comfortable to have on and to the touch. Being natural fibers, they breathe but they retain moisture. Forefront in the materials billing is nylon as it is lightweight and dries out easily.

Function: Like with foot-gear, underwear and socks are also functional and sports particular. Athletics bras are more comfy to wear and not as confining as the push up bras. For the men, athletic jock straps offer protection and support during sports activities. When it comes to socks, they are likewise sports specified.

If you suffer from diabetes, it is important that you carry out diabetic foot care on a regular basis, preferably daily. People who suffer from the medical condition are more prone to problems with their feet such as sores, cuts and bruises. General practitioners and other health advisers will look at a diabetic patients feet as part of their health check ups.

Problems that are noticed with the feet should not be self treated, you should try to get professional advice as to the best treatment. Clean and dry feet are a major part of avoiding infections and sores along with well trimmed toe nails. Regular, preferably daily inspection, of both the feet and in between toes is vital to prevent problems going unnoticed. Athletes foot and areas of dry skin should be treated with anti fungal and moisturisers.

It is good practice for the patient to get into the habit of wearing shoes or slippers at all times. This will prevent stepping on small object such as stones that can cause cuts to the feet. Shoes should not be worn without socks. The socks should be loose fitting with no elasticated cuffs or seams that can cause rubbing to areas of the feet.

If looking for new shoes, these should be comfortable and should not rub against the feet in any way. The shoes should have ample room at the toes and pointed toes should be avoided. Shoes with heels may cause pressure to certain areas of the feet and high heels should not be considered when purchasing shoes. Ideally shoes with good strap fastenings or laces should be the preferred choice as opposed to slip on shoes.

When looking at shoes, you should put your hand inside the shoe and have a good feel about to make sure there are no rough patches of uneven leather or stitching. When trying the shoes on it is important that you wear the type of socks that you would normally wear, this will give a better idea of what the shoes will feel like during everyday wear. If you have extra wide feet or feet that are an unusual shape, it may be difficult to buy shoes off the shelf and you may have to get them specially made.

Having high levels of sugar in the blood stream can cause damage to the nerves, it is therefore important to take care when bathing to avoid burns to the feet. Before going into the bath, it will be necessary to check the temperature of the water with a hand first. The damaged nerves in the feet will mean that the pain of heat will not be felt, for this reason it is a good idea to avoid using electric blankets, hot water bottles, and foot spas.

Specially made socks are available that will help to prevent sores, swelling and nerve damage as well as improving circulation. The socks have no elastic or seams that can rub against the feet and cause sores. The socks are made of cotton or other materials and can also be antibacterial.

It is a good idea to include products for moisturising and preventing bacteria as part of the daily routine. There are many creams and lotions available that make looking after the condition of your feet easier. If there are signs of dry areas or athletes foot it important to treat these areas.
